From product inventory to language coverage

  1. 01

    Define markets and languages

Set target markets, intended users and required document languages for each product. Selecting a country alone does not establish that its language requirements have been met.

  2. 02

    Map each language version

Connect each language file to its products, document type, intended audience and revision. Complete preparation and review for the language versions.

  3. 03

    Check gaps before publication

Compare the required languages in the approved product and market scope with the versions ready for that revision. A missing required approved language version blocks the relevant publication action; your team completes the gaps and reassesses.

How does multilingual IFU management work?

Multilingual IFU management controls instructions for use together with their products, intended users, document revisions, file languages and market scope. eIFU Systems connects prepared language files to these records and checks required approved language versions before publication.

One product, two languages, a new revision

Suppose product SAMPLE-001 has published Turkish and English Rev. A files. Your team’s approved example publication scope requires both languages. When preparing Rev. B, make the distinctions below. This is a fictional workflow example, not a customer record or a country’s language requirement.

  1. 01

English Rev. B is ready; Turkish Rev. B is missing

Approving the English file does not turn Turkish Rev. A into Rev. B. A missing required approved Turkish Rev. B version blocks the relevant publication action.

  2. 02

Turkish Rev. B is ready and independently reviewed

Check product mappings, intended audience and approved market/language scope together. Distinguish approved file status from publication in the portal.

  3. 03

Publication is decided and access is tested

Test Turkish and English selections separately for the relevant product. Check the opened file’s language and revision, and retain previous decision records alongside the new publication.

Interface language, file language and country are different

Interface language
The language of menus and buttons. Opening an English interface does not establish that the IFU file is English or suitable for the relevant market.
Document language
The actual language of the opened file. Visitors select from the product’s published versions; translation accuracy needs its own content review.
Country / market scope
Publication scope connected to intended users and assessed language requirements. Selecting a country does not automatically establish regulatory compliance.

Direct answers about IFU language versions

Are English IFUs only for English-speaking countries?

No. People in different countries may search for English documents. However, providing an English file does not by itself satisfy another market’s local-language requirements.

Does updating one language automatically update other languages?

No. Each language file, revision and review status is checked separately. The platform does not automatically approve translation accuracy.

What is the difference between translation management and multilingual publication management?

Translation management concerns text preparation and linguistic accuracy. Multilingual publication management controls which approved file is offered for a product, revision, audience and market. eIFU Systems describes the second process on this page.

What to check in a demonstration

  • Do the product reference and document type map correctly?
  • Are required language files ready and approved for the same revision?
  • Can the relevant publication block be demonstrated when a language is missing?
  • Do country, audience and language selections open the correct file?
  • Does changing the interface language preserve the intended file language and revision?

Assess country and document language separately

A market may require more than one document language, while one language can be used in several markets. Managing product scope, intended audience and language versions together keeps these relationships clear. A visitor’s country and chosen document language are separate selections. People searching for English documents are not limited to specific countries.

Check language versions with each revision

A new file in one language does not mean that the other language versions have been updated. Check the required approved language versions for the new revision’s publication scope. Provide portal access through published product–document mappings and assess translation accuracy through your review process.

Multilingual document management questions

Does the platform automatically translate documents?

Automatic translation is not part of this scope. Your team prepares, reviews and uploads language versions for the relevant document revision. The platform supports scope and publication management for those versions.

Can a country have several required languages?

Required language lists can be defined by product and market scope. Your quality and regulatory teams assess each market’s requirements.

How are missing language versions checked?

The publication check compares required languages in the approved scope with approved or published language versions for the relevant document revision. A missing required approved language version blocks the relevant publication action.

Can visitors choose English documents?

Visitors can choose from the relevant product’s published language versions. Access to English documents does not depend on English being the visitor’s native language.
